I'm in my third year as a full-time PhD student at SMEC. Because my project is emergent I still spend a lot of my time working with teachers and other leaders to co construct an adaptable environment for learning at every level of the school. My research is informed by a number of referents; complexity and network theory, integral theory, spiral dynamics and quantum theory each play a part in helping me to understand the diverse and unpredictable nature of human systems.  The iterative and holistic nature of my research allows me and my research participants to find ways to deal with disturbance and to transform and sustain the organisational structure with adaptable systems and processes.

In my other life, I have 3 children and 3 grandsons, a bike, a kayak and a mission to find the absence of thought in a mind that thinks constantly. That's where Benedictine rule and Christian Meditation comes in - a tradition which uses the mantra, Maranatha. I'm hopelessly unskilled but remain hopeful that one day I'll discover why smile.
